Will. Laydman of Barton, an alehouse-keper, for lodging of one rogue called Johnson.

12 Jany. 1608/9.
John Bell, Fr. Sayer and Roland Barnes for that they three did very riotously, in a droncken manner, most badly enter the house of one John Painter of Barton &c, and then and there did take the said Painter’s wieff and his mother, and most horriblie did use them with outward shewes of ravishinge, and other forcible dealing &c; also Will. Laidman of Barton, alehouse keper, for being a releever of these people; and the abovenamed Roland Barnes, calling for meat in the said house (yt being not readie, and Laydman’s wieff being making of candles), for that he toke a panneful of water and did cast the same into the tallow, and thereby the house was in great danger of burning.
